Prior to merging with Cariola, he was a founding partner of Díez Pérez-Cotapos Limitada, experts mainly in mining and natural resources, where an important transnational client base was created. Experienced in negotiating complex transactions involving multiple companies from very different economic activities, with many sides, parties, assets and jurisdictions.

Experience

Sergio joined the firm in 1999.

He is an expert lawyer in corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions. He leads the Firm’s Corporate Group III and has been focused in representing large and medium-sized companies, such as Whirlpool, Experian, Texaco, Mitsubishi Power, Empresas Públicas de Medellín, Intercontinental Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Casinos Marina del Sol, Organización Terpel Colombia, Pescanova, Adidas, SGS, Chevron, Grupo Bursátil Mexicano, Sterling & Wilson, Canadian Solar, Cofco China, Cooke Aquaculture, Fall Creek Farm and Nursery on a day-to-day basis, among others.

Created and directed until 2024 the Asia Pacific area of the Firm, leading the relationships with Asian clients, especially Chinese.

From 2001 to 2024, he has headed the Sales and Marketing department of the Firm.

As a member of the Bar Association, he created the Probono Committee of the Bar Association.

  • Purchase-sale of Repsol YPF service stations to Terpel. 
  • Purchase-sale of Aguas Antofagasta by Empresa Pública de Medellín for almost USD 1,000,000.
  • Sale of Terpel to Enex for USD 270,000,000.
  • Acquisition and construction of Los Cururos Wind Plant for USD 220,000,000.
  • Sale of Texaco’s assets to Chevron.
  • Sale of Wind Plants to AES Gener Group for USD 138,000,000.
  • A shareholding sale of Multi X to Cargill for USD 290,000,000.
  • Creation of two of the first three Collective Management Systems in Chile (Valora+ and Giro).

Advice to

We handle the legal requirements of companies related to different industries, including energy, fishing and aquaculture, agro-industrial, stockbrokers, services, retail, drinking water, oil and technology companies, negotiating each one of their contracts, from the moment they enter into the country until they return their investments.
