Lucas has been an associate at our firm since 2019. Since then, he has specialized in matters related to mining and corporate law.
He has extensive experience advising both national and international clients on various large-scale mining projects, encompassing both acquisition and development, corporate restructuring, civil and commercial contracting, regulatory matters, negotiations, and legal proceedings of different natures.
In the area of mining and natural resources, his advisory services include formulating strategies and plans for project acquisition and development, as well as the establishment and review of mining concessions, management of easements, and assessment of certain environmental issues.
In the corporate sector, Lucas focuses on commercial law, M&A, cross-border transactions, foreign investment, bidding, contracts, preparatory agreements, negotiations, corporate structuring, legal administration, and shareholder relations.
Advice to
- Advised South 32 Ltd. on the acquisition of a 45% joint interest by Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd./Sumitomo Corp. in Sierra Gorda SCM. The transaction totaled USD 1,55 billion.
- Advised Sandvik on the acquisition of DSI Underground Cordillera in a negotiation worth 943 million euros. Key tasks included due diligence on the target’s Chilean assets, as well as advising on various aspects of the transaction.
- Advised Franco Nevada, through its subsidiary Minera Global Copper Chile S.A., on the acquisition of a 4.44% interest in SLM California.
- Acted as counsel for Bergbau Wagen SpA, owner of the mining project “Sierra Miranda,” in the sale of the company to Inversiones Tepuhueico Limitada.
- Acted as counsel for Atacama Copper Corporation in the acquisition of Cobalt Chile SpA and Aconcagua Minerals SpA, owners of the mining projects “El Cofre,” “Los Naranjos,” “Caballo Muerto,” and “Placeton,” which cover approximately 14,000 hectares of mining concessions.
- Advised American Industrial Partners on the potential sale of MolyCop and its Chilean subsidiaries, as well as in preparing a vendor due diligence and structuring the transaction.
