Director
José Ignacio has practiced law in both litigation and arbitration for almost 15 years.
He has developed his practice in contractual and non-contractual cases in different matters such as consumer law, insurance, financing, real estate, construction, energy, healthcare, among others.
Additionally, he has strongly specialized in consumer law issues, a practice that he currently leads.
He is a lecturer in private law at University of Chile and University of Santiago.

Experience
José Ignacio is a Director of our firm since 2023 and joined in 2012. He works in the litigation and arbitration group and leads the consumer law practice. He advises both national and international clients in civil and commercial litigation, in the healthcare industry, class actions and general interest consumer law matters, as well as financial, real estate, and energy issues, among others. He has extensive experience in national and international arbitrations in construction, insurance, and general contractual matters.
Additionally, he advises clients in their relationship with the National Consumer Service on matters such as information requests, collective voluntary proceedings, recall campaigns, and negotiations.
He worked as an international associate at Debevoise & Plimpton from 2017 to 2018, in the international arbitration group. Since 2023, he is a member of the list of young arbitrators at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce and is part of the Council of the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC).

- Represented a bank in a class action initiated by the National Consumer Service.
- Advised a mining company in a multi-million-dollar arbitration claim against an insurer for denial of coverage for a loss.
- Represented an airline in a class action initiated by the National Consumer Service.
- Represented a construction company in an international arbitration claim against the project owner.
- Represented a healthcare provider in arbitration against a health insurance institution.
- Represented telecommunications market operators in a significant intellectual property lawsuit.
- Represented a multinational real estate company in a multi-million-dollar arbitration against an investor.
