Bárbara has an extensive and recognized experience in labor matters, advising Chilean and foreign clients in complex corporate and day-to-day advisory matters, collective bargaining in various industry areas, expatriation and immigration, and medium and high complexity litigation.

Experience

Barbara joined the firm in 2011 and was named partner in 2022. She currently leads the labor area.

She has a wide and recognized experience in labor and social security matters, supporting Chilean and foreign clients from the most diverse industries.

These include day-to-day corporate labor consulting, in addition to labor. It also provides services for specific projects such as planning and implementing compensation and remuneration schemes for senior executives, stock option plans, RSUs and other incentives, internal investigation processes in response to complaints, design and implementation of internal policies, preventive audits, due diligence processes, training, termination processes of senior executives and also massive, outsourcing processes and onboarding of companies that want to establish themselves in the country.

She also has outstanding experience in collective matters, with a strong presence in negotiation processes for various clients in a wide variety of industries (food, mining, retail, among many others).

She also has experience in complex litigation and internal investigations in labor matters (e.g., anti-union practices, harassment and discrimination in the workplace, and protection of fundamental rights, among others).

Finally, she leads the immigration group, and has experience in processing work permits, visas, permanent residency and nationalizations, among others.

Advice to

  • Desk support to Labor Relations management in the collective bargaining process of the mining company that produces the most copper in the world, which led to the signing of the most expensive collective bargaining agreement in the industry.
  • Advising in highly complex investigation processes for clients in the food, tax and retail sectors.
  • Advising a Peruvian pharmaceutical company and world leader in the labor aspects of the acquisition of a Chilean laboratory for USD 80,000,000 approx. and the port terminals and logistics business of a Chilean multinational company providing foreign trade services. The transaction includes ten terminals in six countries in the Americas and the entire inland logistics business.
  • Advising a world leader in the production and transportation of containers in the labor aspects related to termination of its operation in Chile, which led to massive layoffs of the entire staff in the country.
  • Advising the world’s leading beverage company, in a worldwide restructuring process, which brought the elimination of jobs and the reassignment of others, both inside and outside the country.
  • Advising a German entertainment company in all labor matters, regarding the incorporation of a joint venture, including the due diligence process and the negotiation of the restructuring of terms and employment conditions of employment of a strategic executive.
