Alejandra specializes in the industrial property area with experience in trademark matters, patents, domain names and other intellectual property matters.

Experience
Alejandra has been an associate at our firm since 2019. She was previously a paralegal in Sargent & Krahn’s Patent Team from 2015 to 2016. She is the associate in charge of the Domain Names area, where she leads the domain name arbitration proceedings before Nic Chile’s Dispute Resolution Center and the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Domain Name Arbitration Center, as well as participates in transactions and purchases of domain names. Alejandra also partaked in the protection of industrial property rights and copyrights on the internet, digital marketplaces and social media.
In the area of Trademarks, she provides legal counsel to clients and actively participates in the prosecution before the National Institute of Industrial Property, the Industrial Property Court and the Supreme Court, both in contentious and non-contentious cases. Alejandra also advises clients in case of trademark infringements and cancellation actions, for the adequate protection of their industrial property rights.
Regarding Patents, she is involved in contentious proceedings before the National Institute of Industrial Property, and in all other proceedings before the Industrial Property Court and the Supreme Court. She also advises clients on the accelerated prosecution programs available before the National Institute of Industrial Property and participates in the obtaining of term adjustments for the protection of granted patents.
Advice to
- Advised large retail stores and important national wineries in domain name arbitrations before the Nic Chile’s Dispute Resolution Center and the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Domain name Arbitration Center to revoke and/or deactivate domain names that were confusingly and similarly their trademarks which created confusion amongst internet users.
- Advised important mining and retail companies in the deactivation and revocation of domain names used for fraudulent purposes.
- Obtained patents for important international pharmaceutical and mining companies.
- Obtained trademarks for an international company in the technology field, which received attention from the national press.
- Obtained the annulment of a trademark which was the basis of a trademark infringement criminal complaint filed against an international client in the transportation industry, which allowed the definitive dismissal of the criminal case.
